Spotlight on VIP’s
Spectacular Sounds Found at Capital High SchoolFor sixteen years running Capital High School’s show choir Voices in Perfection has hosted the annual show choir and concert choir invitational. This event showcases choirs from four different states including West Virginia, Virginia and Ohio, and promises to be an awesome display of talent. Awards will be given for best male and female soloist, best choreography, best instrumental ensemble, and, of course, best choir overall. The morning of February 20, 2010, fourteen choirs will perfect their pitches before they begin the day of song and dance at the Capital High School Performing Arts Centre. The first performance will commence at 9:00 AM and the last will take place at 6:30PM. Following the final performance will be the awards presentation in the Capital High gymnasium to see just who comes out on top this year! For a whole day filled with wonderful sounds and great choreography, the Invitational is the place to be. Show choirs from four states will surely bring no disappointment to your ears, and will warm your hearts with music. Tickets are on sale the day of the event: Adults & Students 13 years and up-$10.00 and Children 12 years and younger -$5.00. VIP’s Competitions, All County Chorus, and All State Chorus begin in February for the VIP’s and it never slows down until Graduation. They begin their competition season at Poca High School’s, MUSICFEST on February 6 at 2:15 PM. February 9th the All State Chorus members will audition for All State Chorus at South Charleston High School. February 13th the VIP’s will travel to Medina, Ohio for the Medina Midwest Showcase competing at 1:00 PM. February 20th is the 16th Annual Concert Choir and Show Choir Invitational hosted by the VIP’s and the Choral Boosters. February 27th will take the VIP’s to Cabell Midland High-Rhythm In Red. In the midst of all the performances the students have All County and All State Rehearsals every Tuesday at South Charleston High School in preparation for The Kanawha County Choral Festival March 11-12, All State Chorus in Charleston March 4-6 and Scores at Marshall University April 17. Then we prepare for the Spring Choral Concert and the musical, FAME.
