SPOTLIGHT ON THE VIP’S The VIP’s, under the direction of Kathleen Corbett, started the year with conditioning each Monday during the month of August in preparation for the new show. And before school ever officially began they completed a very successful VIP camp with Mr. James McQuerrey and choreographed two of the competition songs with Mr. Gates Crisler. September 26th brought the first ever VIP Gospel Sing to Capital High School. The Praisemen, The Front Line Quartet, Kings Harmony and our own Nick Naylor electrified the audience for three wonderful hours of southern gospel music. All State Chorus members have begun practice the first Tuesday of each month during the fall in preparation. And our second choreography workshop will be October 18-19 where Mr. Crisler will complete our competition show, TRUE COLORS for our participation in Kanawha County’s SWING SING, November 22, 2009 at 2:30 PM (more to come in the November’s newsletter). VIP’s will also host a Spaghetti Dinner and Silent Auction the night of Parent/Teacher Conferences, November 19 from 4-7 PM and then preview our Swing Sing show at 7:30 PM in the theater. The VIP’s have been active in fund raising as well and will be selling Holiday Wreaths, October 13-30 (orders due) with delivery the Friday after Thanksgiving and Cookie Dough, October 21-November 3 (orders due) with delivery the second week in December in time for the holidays.
