Kathleen Gardner Corbett - Director

Kathleen Gardner Corbett is currently Director of Vocal Music at Capital High School in Charleston, WV. Kathleen received a Bachelor of Music Education from The King’s College in Briarcliff Manor, NY and a Master’s Degree plus 60 hours from Marshall University, Huntington, WV; SUNY, NY; West Virginia College of Graduate Studies, Charleston, WV.

Mrs. Corbett has helped to produce over 30 musical productions in West Virginia and New York. Her choirs have ranked in many National Competitions with Superior Awards and Grand Champions. She has been a soloist in opera and oratorio in New York, Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia. Kathleen often works as vocal/choral clinician and adjudicator for show choirs and festivals across the country as well as serving as guest conductors for All County Choruses.

In 2006 Mrs. Corbett was awarded The Vocal Music Teacher of the Year Award from the West Virginia Music Educator’s Association. She will be the guest conductor for the finale in the 2010 Arts Alive Celebration sponsored by the West Virginia State Department of Education. She is an active member of the Music Educator’s National Conference, the West Virginia Music Educator’s Conference, and the American Choral Director’s Association. Kathleen has served as the President of the West Virginia Music Educator’s Association, President of the West Virginia Vocal Music Association, chairperson for the West Virginia State Show Choir Festival, the Kanawha County Choral Music Festival, the West Virginia All State Chorus, and past officer for state and county Vocal Music Associations. She has also been adjunct faculty for the University of Charleston. She is currently in her 37th year of teaching in the public school. She has two children, Peter and Kristopher and is very active in the music activities of the Bible Center Church.
